Shibuya Station Exits: Hachiko, East, South and the Right Way Out

Shibuya Station is always moving, and the station itself seems to change along with the neighborhood. The simplest way through is to choose a side before following the crowd: Hachiko and the A exits for the famous west side, B for Hikarie and Miyashita, C for Shibuya Stream, and D for Fukuras and Sakura Stage.

Japan Station Exit Navigator

Find the right exit before the station finds a way to confuse you.

Choose your station and destination. You will get the recommended exit, gate, realistic walking time and the details that matter with luggage or limited mobility.

A, B, C or D?

Shibuya’s numbered exits sit inside four broad zones. A leads toward Hachiko, Center-gai, Shibuya 109 and Mark City. B serves the east side around Hikarie, Miyashita Park and Shibuya Scramble Square. C points southeast toward Shibuya Stream, while D covers the southwest side around Fukuras and Sakura Stage. The letter is often more useful than memorizing one exit number.

Construction is part of the route

Shibuya is still being rebuilt, so a familiar corridor can look different on your next visit. Treat the exit signs inside the station as the final authority and use the guide below to choose the correct zone, gate and general direction. If a temporary barrier changes the last few metres, you will still emerge on the right side of the tracks.

A small detail worth noticing

Decide where you are going before leaving the ticket gates. Shibuya’s underground passages connect widely, but crossing from the wrong side with luggage can turn a short walk into a tiring detour. A minute spent checking the destination name here usually saves ten outside.
