Shinjuku Station Exits: The Practical Destination Guide

Shinjuku Station is a city hidden inside a station. The useful question is not simply “which exit?” but “which side of the tracks belongs to the place I am actually visiting?” Use the finder below before you reach the gates.

Find the right exit before the station finds a way to confuse you.

Choose your station and destination. You will get the recommended exit, gate, realistic walking time and the details that matter with luggage or limited mobility.

A quick way to understand Shinjuku Station

Use the east side for Kabukicho, Golden Gai and the dense shopping streets. Use the west side for skyscraper hotels, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building and Shinjuku Chuo Park. The south and new-south gates are usually best for Busta Shinjuku, NEWoMan and Takashimaya Times Square.

With luggage or limited mobility

Do not assume the shortest route is step-free. Busta Shinjuku and the south-side complexes publish connected routes, but elevator access elsewhere can change during construction. Follow elevator symbols inside the paid area and allow extra time at rush hour.

One local habit that helps

Screenshot your exit result before going underground. Mobile reception is usually fine, but a crowded concourse is the worst place to reopen five map tabs and reconsider your life choices.
